Frequently asked questions

A Life Coach is someone who is qualified to support, encourage, challenge and motivate you to achieve your goals. A coach is a good active listener that can pick up from your voice what you are really thinking and will facilitate you to take actions to move yourself towards your goals. They will celebrate your successes, help you discover how to overcome obstacles, identify your strengths and weaknesses, and enable you to move forward at a far greater pace than you could achieve on your own, with the ultimate aim of you achieving your goals and discovering a much happier life.

At the heart of it all lies the idea that clients must be given the power to help themselves. Basic principles behind life coaching includes:

A) Subjectivity: we all have different perspectives of the world – no one perspective is ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, but some perspectives are restrictive and can stop a person becoming who they want to be.

B) Empowerment: it is within everyone’s capability to adjust the limits of their own perspective. With the help of life coaching, anyone can learn to open their mind if they wish.

C) Guidance: there is a difference between an instructor and a guide. An instructor shows a person exactly what to do, whereas a guide provides the tools and support a person needs to do something for themselves. A life coach is a guide, not an instructor.

I ONLY work with people who want to change – whether a change in effectiveness, a change in their quality of life, or a change in direction for their organisation. Coaching is for people who are outcome-oriented and who are ready to accept full responsibility for affecting the outcomes they desire.

Coaching works because of three aspects that make it a successful process:

Structure: With a coach, the client takes more actions, thinks bigger and gets the job done, thanks to the accountability the coach provides.

Synergy: Client and coach become a team, focusing on the client’s goals and needs and accomplishing more than the client would alone.

Expertise: The coach knows how to help people make better decisions, set the best goals, develop new skills for communicating and restructure their professional and personal lives for maximum productivity.
